MumFest 2026: your day from arrival to dinner
Choose Saturday if you want more time at the festival. Choose Sunday if a shorter day fits your plans. For either visit, decide how you will arrive and how you will get back to your car after dinner before choosing everything in between.
MumFest’s organizer confirms October 10–11, 2026, with general festival hours of 10 a.m.–6:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Sunday. This plan gives you room to browse, pick an activity, and eat without assigning every minute. All times below are Eastern.
For the full festival overview, start with our MumFest 2026 Visitor Guide. Use the choices below to turn those details into a day that fits your group.
First, choose the length of your day
For a short family visit, try the opening portion of either day: one activity, a meal, and a final stop chosen by the kids. Treat an afternoon return as optional. You can have a satisfying visit without committing everyone to a full day outside.
For adults or older children who want music, build the visit around one performance and place your browsing before it. For a festival-and-dinner outing, choose the restaurant and your return plan first, then decide how late you can stay.
Saturday gives you a longer general festival window. Sunday may fit an earlier finish, but a shorter schedule is not evidence that the streets will be quieter. Choose according to your group’s stamina and plans, rather than a promise about crowd size.
Make Lawson Creek your starting parking plan
The organizer recommends free parking and the free shuttle from Lawson Creek Park. Its current transportation page lists service from 8:30 a.m.–9 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Sunday. Check that page again before setting out and confirm the return boarding location and final departure with staff when you arrive.
Build some spare time into arrival. Walking from the car, waiting, and boarding are part of the outing; the posted service window is not a promise of an immediate seat. Photograph or write down your parking location and your return stop before the group disperses.
Driving directly to a downtown restaurant also needs planning. The City of New Bern’s street-closure notice lists festival closures beginning Friday, October 9, at 5 p.m. and ending Sunday, October 11, at 11 p.m., affecting portions of Broad, East Front, Middle, Craven, and Pollock streets. Review the detailed notice if your lodging or destination is on those streets, and follow posted access directions.
If accessible parking or shuttle boarding is essential, confirm the arrangement with the organizer before travel. The organizer’s parking page and FAQ name different accessible parking locations. Ask for the current location and a suitable route to your first stop.
Give your group one activity to look forward to
Start with a choice everyone understands: a children’s activity, a music performance, or time to browse. That first choice gives the day a purpose while leaving room for a change of pace.
For families, the organizer’s 2026 announcement describes a KidsZone with activities, arts and crafts, and story time. Make that your first option if it matches your children’s interests. With a mixed-age group, let each child choose one priority and agree on which one comes first.
For music, the current entertainment page lists Sam Morrow and The Wilder Blue on Saturday, with The Git Down and The Bonafides among Sunday’s performers. Choose a performer, then check the organizer’s schedule again close to your visit. It is labeled preliminary, and some published performance times differ between pages.
Leave a gap between a performance and your next commitment. If someone needs food, a restroom, or a break, you can adjust without losing the part of the day that mattered most. A full second circuit should be a choice everyone still wants to make.
Keep lunch and the afternoon flexible
Festival admission is free, while rides, games, and purchases can cost extra. Decide what your group wants to spend on food and optional activities before browsing, and check the price at each stop.
After your main activity, pause before choosing another. Are people ready for lunch, interested in more stalls, or finished for the day? An unhurried meal can be the main break. If dinner is already booked, use the afternoon for the activity you would most regret missing, then allow time to reach the restaurant comfortably.
The organizer’s FAQ prohibits personal pets, coolers, and outside alcohol. Review the current festival rules while packing. Bring water, and check event updates before leaving home if the weather changes.
Choose dinner with the day of the week in mind
These two restaurants publish regular weekend hours on their own websites. Those listings help you choose where to inquire; they do not confirm a table or special MumFest service.
For Saturday dinner, consider The Chelsea. Its official contact and hours page lists Saturday dinner from 4–9:30 p.m. at 335 Middle Street, with reservations available by phone or through its website. It lists Sundays as closed. Check your October 10 plans directly, including any festival menu or service changes, before making it your fixed endpoint.
For either day, consider Persimmons. Its official contact page lists 100 Pollock Street, regular Saturday hours of 11 a.m.–9 p.m., and Sunday hours of 11 a.m.–8 p.m., with a reservation link. Confirm service for your date and party size. If you need a particular seating arrangement, ask before relying on it.
The timing matters most on Sunday: a dinner after the festival can outlast the shuttle’s currently published service window. Plan to collect your car beforehand or arrange another return. Saturday offers more time, but a restaurant’s closing time still does not extend shuttle service.
If neither choice fits your group, compare other New Bern restaurants and check the selected restaurant’s own hours before settling on a time.
Leave room for the journey home
Before ordering a final round or adding one more stop, check your return plan. Allow for the walk to the boarding area and a wait, and avoid making the final departure your only option.
Pick one main activity, one comfortable meal, and a dependable way back. Add more only while the group still wants to keep exploring.
